HANOI, 24 November 2021: The first group of international tourists with vaccine passports landed at Phu Quoc airport earlier this week, marking the start of the reopening phase for Vietnam’s tourism industry.

They were welcomed by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism general director Nguyen Trung Khanh, Vietnam Civil Aviation Department deputy director Vo Huy Cuong, Kien Giang Province tourism leaders and representatives of Vietjet Air, Vinpearl Joint Stock Company and Marketing Highland Travel Company.

Vietjet Air flight brought more than 200 Korean tourists to Phu Quoc to experience a five-day and four-night vacation at one-stop-destination Phu Quoc United Centre. The group stayed at the Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phu Quoc, which is part of the holiday complex.

Upon entry, travellers must go through airport health screening and install IGOVN and the PC-COVID mobile applications before moving directly to the resort.

Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phu Quoc is participating in the “travel bubble” scheme with the Phu Quoc United Centre. It provides travellers with a five-star hotel stay,  sports and entertainment activities, Vinpearl Golf, theme park experiences and even a casino.

Tourists undergo Covid-19 tests on the first and last day of their vacation. As long as they return negative test results, they can visit, entertain, dine and shop in designated zones at Phu Quoc United Centre.

Tagged the opening event for the vaccine passport pilot programme, the project focuses on Phu Quoc but will quickly expand to other destinations in December. In the initial weeks, Phu Quoc expects to receive 20 international flights per month carrying vaccinated travellers to the island.
